I saw over on the bank fishing forum that the 2016-2017 trout stocking schedule has been released. I noticed some of the places I fished last year are not on the schedule this year. Does TPWD ever add to the list after it is first published? I have also noted some ponds that list fish in the pond and trout are included, but I didn't see them on the schedule last year or this year. Is the sign just indicative that at one time trout were stocked?
Anyway looking forward to the short season as the bass haven't been super productive the last couple of weeks and the other sunfish have pretty much disappeared for me.

Best course of action I can recommend; reach out to TPWD by email or phone. They can update and advise from the source.

Decided to check out South Lakes Park Pond in Denton this afternoon.... Struck out on trout but did get several little crappie and a bluegill! Overall, had a fun time getting out on a chilly but nice day. Today's Video.

I wish they would stock big bream rather than trout, seems like a big waste of money on a fish that is hardly edible and dies within a couple months. Anyone else agree? Or am I the only one?
Hard to find a city lake that has any decent bream.....nor catfish, nor bass, but yet they put trout in them each winter.

Not to mention the stocker trout get smaller and smaller each year. 20 years ago they put decent ones in there...these 8-10" trout don't cut the butter.

The TPWD trout stocking program, whether we realize it or not, is really for our kids to get out and catch fish. And for that, I can't wait either!

My kids are both in their 30s.
The intent may be for kids, but last year I observed about a 5 - 1 ratio of adults to kids.
And if so why are TPWD stockings mainly occurring when kids are in school?
The above is a stupid question I guess. TPWD stocks on days it's employees work. They would have to pay overtime to stock weekends or late Friday night.

I agree, but bream and catfish would live year round, spawn and continue to provide year round enjoyment and eating. Invest in something that provides returns year after year....not for one month.

Visit our city lake (once they stock trout, cause here isn't a bream in there) any day other than the "one" kids fishing derby and you will find old men with their buckets and corn(which is often left in the can to sit in the sun).
