I believe that 99% of Americans are fundamentally good, all flawed, but good at the core, they wont steal and would turn a wallet in just as yours was with no second thought about what the right thing to do is.

I wish, but cell phone and security cameras prove it is more like 50%. He was really lucky a conservative found it.

I'm glad you got it back. Unfortunately, Dan, I know from experience 99% is way too high. We have a fairly high theft rate at the university...in fact, there was another attempted robbery the other morning. I say attempted because once the victim was on the ground, the would be robber went through all their pockets and found nothing. The kid didn't even have a cell phone to steal. Also, people forget things all the time at the gym. Yes, we do get things turned in and we lock them up in the safe until the owner comes for them...but the ratio of items lost to those turned in, is far less than 9.9:10
