I don't have a Minn Kota but have a MotorGuide Xi5 and love it makes fishing deep so easy all you do is fish and if catch a fish or change lures and back to fish your still in the same spot 20+ wind and holds

Terrova. They have a new one coming out that will have improved spotlock. If you have humminbird, look at the ilink upgrade to connect to ff. If you use lowrance then look at motorguide xi5.
Also have the ultrex coming out that is a cable steer tm but has spot lock.

I have a MG Xi5 and love it because it stays within 1 foot of where I spotlock it. The 'new' MK's have supposed to upgraded their spotlock but you have to add another external gps puck to make it as good as the Xi5. I think they are $300/400 more as well.
Whatever you chose, if you have an issue mounting these electric steer trolling motors (hitting the bow roller, precariously mounted on the edge, etc.) because of how they hang off the boat, please take a look at the following product to address these issues. The LiftSaver Trolling Motor Mount works on both brands. Just click on the website link or the TFF post in my signature to learn more.

I had a Terrova and switched to Xi5. No comparison between the two. If they have indeed improved the spot lock, and you have Humminbird electronics, the Minn Kota is the way to go.

Depending on what you want. The new generation MinnKota's have an improved gps system that give a closer spot lock than before. The new Ultrex is a foot operated, cable steer with electric assist, standard bow mount that has the gps features also. Call me if I can help. John
