Boat means nothing. I know for a fact it intimidates some. I've had my rear handed to me by guys in Tin boats. Even by older boats I couldn't believe would start. If you can afford it good for you. If not dont believe the guy in a new boat can catch them. Go fishing there is more important things to worry about.

My stepfather told me one time, Son you only live once so enjoy because you not promise to come back the second time. If you can afford it go for you only live one time.

I never really pay that much attention to other's "stuff", it must make days long to constantly measure yourself and your belongings against others...

Also, I can easily afford one, or even two or three. I just don't need one. I never did, actually. Awesome First Post!!

Makes me wonder if the guy in the $70K boat gets up in stumps and gets it all scratched and banged up like I do in my $30K boat. I know when I first got mine it sure made me cringe a lot.

My paid for $5000 dollar boat gets the job done for sure...but if I were single and no kids, I'd be flying around in a sparkly fast boat too... but the green fish don't care either way.

Add me to the list of 'could but choose not to' on the high-end bass boat. But since this is a thread about how sometimes things are crazy in this sport, let me ask a question:
How is it that bass are supposedly too smart to hit when they "see the line" (hence, expensive invisible fluorocarbon) ... but perfectly are willing to attack plastics with the hook totally exposed (o-ring wacky style)??

That is a GREAT point IMO. Also, watching that old 1973 Bassmaster Classic video today which featured a boat like the one in the first pic has made for a great day of reminiscing about my childhood and my grandfather's 1977 Monark McFast.

X2, Hell mine aint even $30k and I still try to take care of it and keep it looking nice.. What really saddens me is when I see that $70 rig that looks like it has never seen a wash clothe and been taken thru the thickest briar patch in East Texas...but hey to each his own

I feel bad for the guy with a $700 boat payment that is too worried about his boat to get to where the fish are.

Yeah Steez I'm with you on that, but what's really sad is he financed it for 12 years and a lot of'em did. I saw a Bass Cat that sold for $90,000 and change w- a 400 Merc. on the back. Don't know the financial arrangements but that's a lot of dough for a bass boat. I don't envy anyone who has a nicer home, truck, boat, whatever than I do especially if they're up to their a$$ in debt. All my stuff is paid for and I sleep really well at night. But, and it's a big but, if I had the cash $$$$$ I'd have me one of those new Rangers or Skeeters. Just sayin'.

I'm the guy with the inexpensive boat, low budget electronics, low cost store brand reels/poles, that almost always catches fish and ALWAYS has a great time. Also, I usually have a pretty girl with me!
