Trade for McCann and sign Josh Reddick. Better get some pitching rangers.

McCann is an average catcher at this point in his career. He's a .266 lifetime hitter, and while his HR numbers are fairly consistent at about 24/yr recently, his RBI numbers have fallen off (avg 70/yr for the last 5 seasons and that is skewed by one season at 94). He's never won a Gold Glove and his defensive numbers are also about average. The Astros paid for his history at Atlanta.

Between McCann and Gattis, the Astros have the potential to get 50+ HR's from their catcher/DH position. Seems like good deal to me. 2016 Fantasy Pros had McCann at #2 and Gattis at #10.

Reddick in left field along with Springer in RF and Marisnik in CF, and that's pretty good defensive outfield. Especially if Jake rebounds to form at the plate.

If they (Astros) add some arms to rotation, they could very well be back in mix.

Trading for a 9th year catcher is iffy but it just might be enough to give Gattis a rest. LH hitters are a must for the Astros right now.

Not saying McCann is at this level, but....

Johnny Bench = 17yrs. in a non-DH League. (some games at other positions)
Yogi Berra = 19yrs. in a non-DH era. (Some games in outfield)

Players today get a lot more TO.
