If I network a 998c SI with a Helix 12 CHIRP will the 998 be able to show the CHIRP image from the 12? No, it will share 2d but you will have to turn off Chirp. It will only share Chirp with another Chirp unit and currently Chirp is only available on the Helix 12s and Onix. The onix will only share waypoints with core units

Thanks for the info gentlemen. Much appreciated. If I move my 998c SI to the bow what transducer should I put on the trolling motor? Thanks again.

The same one that came with the 998, might want to use a transducer and shield saver trolling motor mount

They make a short version of that transducer mount that works very well on the TM.

Just replaced a HB688 combo with a new HB Helix7 with GPS/SI/DI, installed by a reputable boat dealer shop. The Helex GPS is stellar, sonar is great, the SI and DI are terrible. DI has a very weak return, looks like I'm getting about 50%, the SI is worse, wavery and unviewable. The 688 was good, only relaced it to go bigger and better. The transducer sets next to my Garmin93SV as did my other. The Garmin still works great. Any help with the Helix...???

Last weekend as I was removing my 998 si transducer I found unbenonced to me that I had a y cable going to a 2d through hull transducer. Finally got to run my Helix 12 today. When I get on plane I lose sonar as well as SI. I knew I would loose SI but didn't expect to lose sonar. Can I y to the 2d sonar transducer though the hull and if so how will this effect the CHIRP?

yes you can, that is probably the best setup for your boat, it will have no effect on chirp. The unit chirps the transducer through the processor so you will still have chirp . The y cable will separate the signals from the transducers due to the way the y cable is pinned out.

For my Helix 12 should I get a autochart no line card or will a regular SIM card be as good? Thanks in advance.

Helix 10 software update instructions discrepancy.
The Helix 9 and Helix 10 Operations guide, page 155. Step 3 says to "Install the SD card with the updated software file into the control head slot."
Step 4 says to "Power on: The control head will recognize the new software..."
In contrast to this, the MyHumminbird website update directions, step 5, says "POWER ON YOUR UNIT, allow the unit to go through the complete start up BEFORE pressing any buttons or selecting any menu options. After the unit has completed the loading process and you have clicked through the warnings and information, place the SD card in the unit."
So which is it? SD card then power up, or power up then insert the SD card?

So which is it? SD card then power up, or power up then insert the SD card? FULLY start the unit up in Normal or Simulator, THEN put the memory card in the unit to load the update. If you do it the other way, the unit will ignore the memory card.
