Yea I had been told that for quite a while. I've been fishing Joe Pool for 13 years. Having not seen one allowed me a modicum of piece of mind while tubing.
Having seen one now it will probably be more at the forefront of my mind.
That being said I'm still tubing as soon as spring gets here.

This is why when I wade out in Joe Pool I never go beyond knee deep and I can see the bottom.Have not seen a gator.
But I have seen a river otter,nutria,and beaver.
I have stepped on a snake while wading.
Fortunately it was a common water snake.
There are cottonmouths in the lake,I have seen them,
and the trails have rattlers and copperheads watching your every move.
Its called the great outdoors.

There are gators at Joe I've seen them pull a big one out after the flooding they caught about nine last year I live right around the corner from Lyod. One day I was fishing in the creek while I was leaving coming to the street I see a huge tail hanging out a game warden's truck. I went to ask the gate guard if they just pull a big gator out and she said yes. She also said that there are gators here, most of them are in the Cedar Hill side in the swamp area with the sticks. She also said that Walnut Creek and Seaton creek had them as well. I'm always in a little 2 man pelican only thing I ever seen where slides across the banks.

I dont like hearing stories like especially since I fish jp from my tube often lol That's why a wear a cup when I fish in my tube. Got to protect the Boyz!!!

There was a much bigger gator in the vicinity. That's why he was slapping his tail and got out of the water. That bigger gator had probably moved into the smaller gators territiory.

Haven't seen one personally but have seen foot tracks and slides on the banks of the creeks.

The only I have seen in the DFW area is the one at Leroy's bait shop. I did run across a beaver at Bachman lake once. I use to wade fish alot and never had a fear of snakes. The only thing I ever feared was big snapping turtles. I fear those more than anything when wading.
