I mounted an HDSI transducer on my transom. Its about 1/4 inch below the bottom of the boat. Im losing bottom at speed on 2D and getting a roster tail. Where would you start? Move the ducer down or up?

The temp sensor end needs to be lower than the leading end to get water flow across its face.
Anytime you put an obstruction in water at speed, you will get a rooster tail---simple physics.

Ive got the back of the ducer (the closer part to the transom) a few clicks down so it angles up a bit. Is that what you are referring to?
If you lose the bottom at speed where would you start moving the ducer?

I'd buy a thru-hull for 2d and run it when I was on pad.

Might want to consider a 2d user along with the hdsi transducer with a y cable. If you went with the shoot thru ducer you would have to go with the alumaducer to shoot through aluminum

If you lose the bottom at speed where would you start moving the ducer? Did you read the Installation Guide for that transducer? It is here, download the guide and refer to section 5: http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XHS-9-HDSI-180-T/If you have a stepped transom, you have go by the bottom of the hull, not the bottom of the transom that the motor is attached to.
