What are the options for buying a new lower unit? I have already bought one and got a real deal on it. It also showed up with a slightly bent prop shaft and crooked skeg. I have been told about another brand that sells for less than the factory replacement, can't remember the name of the company (help with the name if you know of any after market brands). Said to be fully warrantied, but marginal durability "sometimes". Pro XS 250

Before committing, I suggest you do a search on here, Bass Boat Central or Google.

I would not install an SEI LU on that motor. Stick with a Mercury... most likely a Torquemaster.

unless they have changed their warranty if you fish tournaments no warranty an if it breaks a prop shaft they wont replace your prop. best to spend a little more money an get an oem reman or new.

SEI says no warranty purchase only, based on the serial # of my ProXS 250.

I did extensive research on LU a couple years ago before buying one and found that ALL after-market places had issues. Warranty, returns, exchanges, refunds you name it they all had bad reviews (SEI was one of the worst). I am sure there are those that have them and haven't had any issues but I don't gamble with my money or when it comes to missing a weigh-in!!
I bought a rebuilt modifies torque-master at a really good price, and I am sure I run it higher on the transom and at much higher RPMs than most. Hadn't had 1 problem with it!
If you can't afford a new OEM lower find a used one at way less than the cost of a new one.

Way too many issues with aftermarket units on high horsepower engines. even when broken in properly your best bet is an oem replacement.
