Hey Guys, I will be in the Beaver's Bend area next week for a few days. I have only been once, and that was when I was a little kid. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to where to fish, and what to fish with? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I havent been in too many years but little wooly buggers used to be the ticket. Cant imagine much has changed in that regard, however, I've recently read that much has changed with the river. I would stop at either the fly shop in the park(it is closed one day a week so call first.) or the grocery store/bait shop/flyshop out on the major highway before you get to the park and ask the same question. And be sure and post when you get back!
PS. Take a camera.

if you dont mind arrogant fly fishermen, stop by beavers bend fly shop, they know the river the best. but can be rude at times if you are a younger person like me.
Use glow bugs. size 18+ zone 2 is good, but zone 1 has a lot of big bows now that they fixed the river before the camp grounds.
goodluck.
beware the river is very slippery

Waco: It will be very crowded up there next week, Spring Break. That Said, My favorite area is zone 2, but you cant fish there when they are generating. The new lost creek and evening hole areas had lots of fish last week, but these areas are small and again are usually crowded. Spillway creek can be good but usually has lots of bait fishers. Saw lots of March Browns coming off and some smaller Mayflies, these patterns in Drys, emergers, and nymphs should produce for you. Can't go wrong with midge patterns as well, try #18 zebra midge or something like that. This river is extremely dangerous with very slippery rocks everywhere, use a wadeing staff and move very slow. Stop by Three Rivers Fly Shop on Hy 259 left side of road at Main entrance to Park. Good Folks

We used to use dough bait behind the general store in the state park. Just listen for the horn, then you will have about 5 minutes to clear out before the water stars to rise.
