Don't buy Dobyns. I have the same issues you have, but with Dobyns. I have two Champion Extremes in my garage that are broke. One broke on a hook set of a 16 inch fish and one broke on a cast. I have another rod that has a loose reel seat. It almost moves 360 degrees. I think every rod has had a guide issue. I have a buddy who has had similar issues with the Extreme. I'm about to replace all of my Dobyns. It's gonna be a very expensive lesson. These are issues I've personally had with Dobyns.

I am in the dissenting opinion here. I have fished Ducketts since they first came out, and the thing that keeps me coming back to them is customer service.
I had a couple of micro magic rods that I had broken or bent the eyes on due to stepping on them or whatever. I contacted Duckett, and they sent me enough new eyes to replace all of them on two rods. They didn't charge me a dime. Then, when my local rodsmiths wanted to charge me $10 per eye replacement, I contacted Duckett again, and their response was: "no problem, just send us the rods, and we'll take care of it." So, I did. I paid for shipping to Alabama, and that was it. About a week later I had both rods back with upgraded stainless eyes free of charge.
Also, my stepdad broke the tip of one of his in the door. All he had to too was send the butt of the rod to Duckett, and they sent him a brand new rod, no questions asked.
So, I'm sure there are problems with all rods from time to time. But, for me, it's how well the manufacturer backs their product. Thus, I'm a loyal Duckett customer.
Just my two cents. This has been my experience as well. I need a few more MH rods so you guys looking to get away from them let me know what you got.

Hey remember at the marina I set the hook with your brand new duckett and the snapped in half, those were the days ! And when he says new he means the first time it was ever fished!! I do like the customer service from DF which is why I have stayed so long. Just getting to the point where I'm getting tired of it. EVERY company has its issues. One thing I hate about Dobyns is you can't just go pick em up at a local store anywhere. But I have heard great things about them. Gonna be strange to me no matter what brand I switch to. If I end up switching. We will see what customer service has to say.

I like the Duckett's I have. I have broke several but it was my fault every time. They have replaced them for the $15 dollar fee no questions asked. The turn around has always been very fast. You do have to mail in the warranty card when you buy one to get the 20 year warranty.

Falcon or Carbon lite, hardly use the ghost anymore. Agree. Payed less for my carbon lites and falcons and like them much better than my one Duckett. It just has the weirdest action in my opinion.

If you can afford it try a Power Tackle. Best rods I've ever fished with.
This^ built well and have awesome actions. Best money I've ever spent on a rod. Power tackle stupid expensive, I would love to know what the markup is on them. I guess I'm lucky I've got four duckett micro and macro magics and no problems yet, had more problems with dobyns but they have always fixed them for free but shipping 7+ foot rods gets expensive after a few times. Falcon has been my favorite.

I love how people say they have great customer service. What a pain in the azz to have to ship your rods out for repairs. I like rods that don't need to be sent back for repairs.

I have one Duckett Ghost and so far so good. I love it for cranking. Soft on the retrieve and adds so much distance to my casts. I doubt I'll buy another one after reading so much about their issues.
I've never been one to buy the expensive gear. I bought this one to give to my son. We both use it. But I have always had good luck with Berkley Lightning rods. for $40 if you break it or something happens no big deal. I've also got several Quantum rods that have all been good rods. You just don't have to spend $200 on a rod to get a good one.

I've got nothing but good things to say about my Duckett Rods. I've been using them some of my rods for over 2 years. That's fishing 5 days a week, if not more. I really like the Terex line of rods, they are strong, and will get fish out of just about anything.
Of course, I've broken rods trying to pull fish out of things that I probably should have just ran up to on the trolling motor, but that's just me being lazy. There were one or two rods that I had problems with the inserts on the eyes, but they took care of them.
I'll keep using mine.
