so this weekend I got to go hybred fishing with steave....the first one I hooked weighed in at 7lbs and it ate my lunch...wow pretty impressive....

Today I caught and photo's 2 species I'd never caught before.
A hybrid striped bass that *OWNED* me on ultralight. 26" long, 7lbs 10oz. *OWNED* I tell ya. 6 lb test.
and a river carpsucker.
He didn't own me, but I'd not caught one before either.

Nicely done. I finally got a day off work last sunday and met up with my mate Lee. My son caught a 7 lb catfish along with a plastic bag wrapped around his line on 6 lb test. At Zachs secret swim. We all thought it was a carp, but it was just a catfish.

Hehe, for a guy that had never been Hybrid fishing before, Zach had a good first go. His first two Hybrids were a 7 and a 5. Those things sure are fun!! By the way, get him to tell you the story about the ride up the lake when the wind was up. And don't believe him if he says he didn't have to change his shorts!!! ;^)
Oh, and he even unhooked his own Catfish!!

I love catching hybrids in the 7-8 pound range. That initial strike is like snagging a freight train with your lure. If you aren't prepared for what's coming it will jerk the rod right out of your hands. Then they turn sideways like a sandie. Fun, fun, fun!
What lake were you at? I was at Tawakoni all weekend but I never left Rabbit Cove. Way too much wind for me! I did get into some crappie and channel cats. No carp but I did try!

yeah quite the boat ride for a bank fisherman...wow...I would do it again though  just wasn't quite ready for it

What lake did yall fish? Zach, in a few weeks when the sandies and hybrids turn on you can jump in the back of my boat and we'll hit lewisville.
