anyone have any thoughts on favorite jigs, or lures for sandies? Last summer I saw a guy pulling buckets of whites out of lake belton. Said he was using a rattle trap. I tried a rattle trap, jigging a spoon, everything with almost no luck.

Somebody just back of you while you are fishing is as bad as someone looking over your shoulder while you write a letter to your girl. "Ernest Hemingway"

there's a whole "belton bunch" of people on here, read their posts and I'm sure you can get info on locations and bait from all that has been written. My all-time favorite was the Thinfin by Storm, but those aren't sold anymore except ebay!

Yes i am a BELTON BUNCH person.
ask on the BELTON BUNCH.
i like to use Chrome/Blue rattle traps during the spring (when the whites are hitting hard). Also in the creeks/rivers use white, blue, chartreuse, yellow jigs.

During the spawn in rivers and creeks(read: right now!), curly tail grubs, roadrunners, rooster tails(my personal favorite), rapalas, sassy shads, lil fishies, well, you get the picture!
In the lakes, when they are deep, slabs with a curly tail grub about a foot above it is too hard to even try to beat. when they are schooling on surface, tiny torpedos. rooster tails, rapalas, roadrunners, sassy shads, jigs, well, you get the picture!
