I brought my son to CC to fish for a few days. We come 3 or 4 times a year because of the high number of solid crappie we catch here. We fished hard today and caught around 40 undersized fish and 9 keepers and the keepers were not the usual thick 12-13" fish we have always caught before. We fished brush in depths from 8-25 feet and there were small crappie everywhere. We have 3 more days and hope to find some bigger ones. Any advice would be much appreciated. Where did the solid fish go?

small crappie are usually the first to go to the brushpiles in the spring, and the last to leave in the fall. try looking for deeper cover and structure, and also very shallow cover or structure that you wouldnt normally fish, like 2 to 10 feet, or 21 to 38 ft. you wont catch as many fish, but you will likely catch some better fish. once most lakes turn over, crappie will scatter more, usually into smaller schools chasing small schools of baitfish, then as it gets colder, they will consolidate into bigger schools of fish, and baitfish.

The bridges are pretty good right now. I caught a limit of fish last Wednesday, and kept a few really nice ones. They were 12 feet deep in 16 to 20 feet of water.

This is hard to read and not wanna load up and go!!! Man that's a fun lake full of fat black crappie!!!

Bud we fished bridges Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and the results were 20 undersized to 1 keeper. We could catch small ones on almost every drop. I don't know what changed but the big ones showed up this morning. We had a great day.
