Going to Pool later today. Haven't been fishing in over a year due to medical issue. I really don't care to launch at the Oasis: ramp is pitiful for the $10 launch fee and their count on minnows includes dead ones floating in the plastic bag. Would like to get some minnows just in case jigs aren't on the crappie menu today. Anyone know of a bait place close to the North or West side of the lake that you can recommend? I'll be driving from Arlington.
Appreciate any advice.

Ray J's off of New York and 360. My buddy buys his minnows there. They are always healthy and good prices.

Thanks guys. I didn't get a chance to check this site before I left for the lake yesterday. I'll check out these bait shops in the future. Fished with jigs, just a few bites. Since my boat hasn't been on the water for almost a year I should have checked the depth finder. It didn't want to work and I relied on memory to fish some spots I know. Like to try new places each time I go but without the chart I didn't want to be running "blind". Still it felt great to be on the water after so long of a time.

I launched at Loyd Park with no problem. Just $2 for seniors. Going to try again tomorrow and get my minnows at Rae J's as suggested.

I fished JP over the weekend (Friday) did no good in the trees, and the Creek is about 2-3 ft deep. Jon boat made it but very shallow. I went to the Bridge and pulled about 12 with 6 being Keeps, but only put 4 big keepers in the boat (Some don't always make it In the Boat...) tis shallow heading out of Loyd park, but if you stay within the markers your good.
