I'm having some work done on the bottom of my boat and considering having Hullspeed Performance Coating applied. Does anyone have experience with it? The fiberglass guy would be installing it so I'm more curious about if/how much it helps with the performance of the boat.

It helped my boat zero. It is also coming off in numerous locations. Hullspeed sent a refund on the paint but I'm still out the $600 it cost to get it put on.

You'd have better results by wet sanding your hull with 2000 or finer. Never apply anything to the hull. If that stuff really improved performance & speed all the pros would be hawking it.

Pure and simple..nothing beats displacement. 99.99% of the rest is just smoke and mirrors. If you want go faster, buy a bigger motor.

In my opinion, hull design has more to do with how fast a boat will run than almost any other variable. Coatings, sanding, blueprinting usually only give you results when you are starting with a hull designed to run fast from the start. You are most likely wasting time and money if you are doing any of this to a mainstream bassboat.

The only boats that really benefited from it were the jet boats that ran with a lot of wetted hull surface.

very few "drag" boats have it done. if it were a 100% deal for speed it would have been proven on the drag boat circuit. i only now of a couple, and they are not dominate.
