Well more than frustrated.....dropped TM off w Boris only to be told "couldn't duplicate problem, maybe a boat issue". So of course reinstalled and of course same issue.
I can clamp my Fluke on the the power feed both upstream and downstream of the boat female outlet and maintain a constant 24.4V, running the TM up to speed 80 (all my trashcan can handle) and it runs flawless.
I do the same test installed on the boat, run the speed up to 60, TM cuts off/on w/ no voltage drop.
MK doesn't have an amperage chart that shows draw based on speed level so I can't compare buts it's s steady and consistent increase as speed is increased.
I've jumped out the only component/termination between the TM and batts, the fuse, no help.
MK 65 at 3 mnths started acting up, MK basically says take it somewhere else to have checked out.

Check the actual plug (female) for corrosion. My MG TM used to do the same thing. I unplugged the plug to clean the prongs, and it worked like a charm after that. eventually had the same issue so just went ahead and totally replaced the female plug.

I did that Aggie, after that didn't work, went as far as cutting the leads and wiring it direct, bypassing the plug all together, no change.

It's pulling more amps than your breaker will allow. Replace the 50 amp breaker back by your battery.

Breaker is the culprit in all these issues

what gauge is your wire running from the batteries. If you upgraded trolling motors from 24v to 36v. Our MG seems to get hot if on for more then 5-10secs and cut in and out

he would see voltage drop if it was a wiring gauge issue. breaker issue is my guess
I think a battery problem would show a voltage drop as well

from my experience it will only trip under a load when high current(amperage) is pulled through the circuit. The weak spot becomes the breaker so it trips.

Question just for my comparison.
It does not trip the breaker? It operates properly at some power levels but when you turn it up to a certain level it becomes intermittent?
If so I think I know your problem. The MK solution by replacing wiring harness is expensive. The solution by changing out a potentiometer is pretty cheap.

I think a battery problem would show a voltage drop as well not always. Voltage could remain constant and amperage would have to increase. Hence the tripped breaker. Checked the plug....but did you check the connections INSIDE the plug (male end)? And check to insure the connections are clean and tight inside the receptacle? BTW....24.4 V IS voltage DROP. 25.2 volts is a good reading. A fully charged and propery functioning battery will be 12.6 volts. Two in series would be 25.2. Your battery system is approximately 50% discharged at the voltage you are describing. And with the voltage low, amperage HAS to increase to run the motor.

Your battery system is approximately 50% discharged at the voltage you are describing. And with the voltage low, amperage HAS to increase to run the motor. The OP never said a breaker tripped, hence my questions just to clarify. Also the voltage measured at the trolling motor plug can easily drop a couple tenths. I think he said the trolling motor stayed at 24.4 volts while in operation and if so that may be another reason to have a lower voltage. If the problem is not tripping breakers and if the voltage normally happens at certain power levels while at others its works properly then I think he has to replace the pot which adjusts the speed. In the foot pedal there is a pot which the speed control operates. It can develop the same symptoms that he is relating, I think. I had that problem before and the fix according to MK was to replace a wiring harness, something like 70 bucks plus labor. I just cut the pot out, took the lettering, looked it up and ordered another. Soldered it in and its been working fine since. The potentiometer was under 10 bucks, maybe under 5, I don't remember.

Mine did the same thing load tested the batteries and found one battery would momentarily shut down due to heavy load then come back to full power just to shut down again under a heavy load. Swapped the battery and been issue free ever since.

Mine was the breakers, I also found out that all breakers are not created equal. Get the higher quality ones.
