I need some guidance. Every morning I take my daughter to daycare. And every morning I exit and no one "yields to the ramp" like they are supposed to. It has caused numerous near misses and close calls by getting rear-ended from people on the ramp not paying attention. The sign is posted, but it's small, next to a tree, and very dark. This exit services a daycare and a school so many others are exiting and trying to get to the right hand side of the service road to exit. It isn't just me. I would like to go to the city and petition them to improve it with one of the yield signs that have flashing LED lights. The service road is always crowded with morons who are merely trying to avoid traffic on 820E Northbound. So they always have a shotty attitude. Any guidance is appreciated.

Not to mention that people are always blocking the intersection from the service rd going straight to merge on to 820 to go around a lot of traffic.

Not sure the City has authority on signage there. Probably TXDot. Make a few phone calls and find out. But a new sign still isn't going to help.

I know nothing will prevent all idiots from being reckless. But a better sign and maybe a cop posted in the parking lot just north of it for a few weeks will help the situation. I know I am not the only one experiencing this.
I am going to approach the daycare and school officials and see if they want to lend their support as well. It's a small proposition, and if it could help prevent one child from being injured or killed it's definitely worth it.
I can assure you if someone hits my car and injures my baby girl due to them not paying attention it will not be pretty. I have zero tolerance for morons.

I had an issue with a stop light on the exit ramp of I30 east and Summit. After 8 pm, that light wouldn't turn green for ten minutes or more. It was frustrating. The lights for Summit Ave would cycle like normal but my light would never turn green.
I called the city and it was fixed within a week. Not a safety issue like yours, but my experience says they take stuff seriously. Worth a call.

And your local pd for enforcement!
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโs a storybook, man.โ

Had a couple of issues on our highway. I wrote a letter to our local txdot office regarding the safety concerns. They fixed both issues pretty quickly.

That's a tough one. IMO, it looks like when you exit, you still have a lane to drive in so that's probably why they don't yeild or enforce it. Here in WF, they don't even put yield signs on service roads where you're what I'll call "protected" when you exit. I deal with this one every day, see how it's different, when you exit, it goes straight into their lane. It's worth a shot though since they've already got a sign there. Service road like yours, no yield sign.

Shoot the sign multiple times with buck shot. They will replace it.

If not for baby girl, I'd suggest a 3/4 ton - 1 ton even better, PU with a correctly installed Ranch Hand. But since she's going to be in the vehicle...then yeah, go for the signage improvement. If you could find a local traffic cop and just mention he could probably write a months worth of tickets in just one morning, That might help. I know of one particular place in Irving I won't cross even a single foot of the solid white line at an exit onto a 2 lane service rd. Motorcycle cops seem to really be productive at these sort of things. Good luck with this and post back with progress reports when you have more news.

Rhino-
Call the South Tarrant County Area Office and ask to speak to the TxDot Area Engineer or Assistant Area Engineer. Their phone number is 817-370-6640.
