I started back fly fishing after a long spell and have been really enjoying myself. I've been catching a bunch of bass on a chartreuse and white deceiver on a 1/0 that I bought. I decided to try my hand a tying my own so I got myself set up with a few tools and some supplies to tie clousers, deceivers, and a few popping bugs. I still having some trouble creating a neat head on the clousers and deceivers but at least I found they work. My first catch on one of my own flys.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Nothing beats catching a fish on a bait you made. Good job.

Lake Texana Bass? Nice, you start catching fish on flies you tie means you are in deep and probably won't be able to find your way out.

Nice fish and the fly looks great.
I went to an Orvis fly tying class this spring and tied a woolly bugger.
I caught a small bass on it and then hooked a giant oak tree that broke me off after a short fight.
