Fisher, i have heard mixed reports. The bass should be in the river and making their way , dunno how far up , casue I can't get down there to check it out, jut going off previous years logs I keep and it's about that time.
I hope someone gets into them and does well, had to cancel 4 trips simply casue we can't access the river.
Good luck and sorry this couldn't be of more help

I fished 8-noon. Caught 10. I heard they were doing well at the rapids. I didn't go that far. I was in my kayak.

guys forgive my ignorance, I grew up fishing Canyon Lake and the surrounding area but haven't fished it in years (10+). I've been talking to a buddy that still lives there and we were planning a trip for this coming weekend to take our dads out to try to catch some whites. Are y'all refering to the Rebecca creek ramp on the lake or is there a public ramp farther up the creek now? I can remember when I was a kid we would put our bass boat in at the lake and going all the way up to the rapids when the water was up. I'm floating a 21' bay boat now. What's the creek like. Is it still navagable enough to get a good size boat up it?

Thanks!!

aggie. it's still the launch you are thinking of. Rebeeca VCreek, is just that but runs into the main river.
You might recall the submerged stumps and timber, so use caution.
King Bingo has a large boat and get's up there fine as well doother boats, by looking at your sig, you shold be fine.
I cannot speak of what it's like this year other than the water at the ramp being very low.
Good Luck and I hope to be out sunday to check it out. I'll say hello if I see ya .
I'll be in a 16 ft aluminum semi v jon with a 30hrse Nissan.
Good Luck and hope this helped some

You'll be fine if there is enough water to launch. Once you get into the river channel and get on plane, stay in the middle and stay alert and you should be fine. Once you see the big house on the right, shut it down. Last year there was a large bar in front of the house and you could see where all the boats hit it. Last year that was where the fishing started, but with the low water this year who knows. Just take it slow and make sure your trolling motor batts are fully charged. Last year I was able to make it all the way up to the first set of rapids but I had to go through a very narrow spot that was about 12" deep w/ rocks and about 6 feet wide. You shoulda seen the looks on some of those faces as I made it through that cut time after time. Also there was a large submerged tree in the middle of the river in front of that homeowners park so watch out for that too. I probably won't make it out for another week or so, hope ya'll have some good luck!

King, Thanks for the info. Sounds like I need to break down and buy that trolling motor I've been putting off! I'll be sure to post and let y'all know if we made it out or not and how we did if we do get to go.

yeah you gotta have a t-motor up in the river, especially with a big boat.

I was out there wed. Rebecca creek ramp looked very shallow how ever I don't have 4 wheel drive and don't want to end up like a couple of trucks last year up to there hoods in the water they were spinning their wheels and went down in the water so I just use potter's creek and run up the river slow. went up river and caught ten whites and two 16" crappie. went from Rebecca's creek almost to the rapids, wife was catching around pipe line crossing and didn't want to go futher up river. way off the topic.
