Bass Lady,
Please call me in the morning. Caty is my office manager and I will put her in charge of making all the calls necessary and as often as needed to push this. If I have to have her do it 3-4 hours a day, I will do it.
After seeing the anger and frustration from others on here, absolutely! Because that is what I felt when we were down there restoring the WETLANDS. And yes, it may not be the Everglades, but in it's own right it is a wetlands that has been in existance for almost 30 years since they last changed the lake level. Now all that will be displaced and no telling what will happen to the lake or the fishery.

I filed one as best as I could with the info I have. Also, here's a list of the Sierra Club contacts for Texas. Send them an email with your thoughts. Be sure to include the news links as well. http://www.texas.sierraclub.org/contact.asp

yeah, but the only problem I have with brush piles, is that everyone knows about them. I don't mind building them, but I want their location a secret! Seriously, I would like to talk to the reporter, and try and get 100 or so TFF's down to the creek bottoms, a biologist like Bruce Highsmith, and a Corps rep. the Corps may not be present because they are involved in the case. But TPWS may because they are state, not fed. I bet if we can have a big event and a media broadcast on this issue, we can get noticed. Especially if we pass out little model nooses to all the spectators and have them waiving them like those floresent necklaces you get at the fair or rodeos! So call me in the AM and I will put Caty on it. She can be a little attack dog if needed. Especially when I take her to the creek bottom tomorrow and show her the damage. She will go balistic.

Are we EVER going to know who REALLY did it?!!!! If it was the developer, I guess after every house has been built and sold, we will THEN learn the truth! <cynical scepticism>

If it was the developer... They seem to be getting what they deserve. But, if is wasn't the developer, it sucks to be them!

Unfortunately TxnAngler, it's the builders who have purchased these lots who are suffering most, not the developer. They paid a ton (to the developer) for the lots, but can't build and sell the homes to get their money back.

This whole mess comes as no surprise to me and was easily predicted.
I have been living on the north end of the lake by Big Sandy Point since 1990. About 8 years ago the Mcclendon family sold thier ranch out there to developers. All of this property was bordered by Big Sandy Park. From the momment the first new homeowners moved in, the cutting on Corps property began. 120 year old oaks dropping like flies just so they could have a better view of the water. I started carrying my GPS, Cell phone and digital camera on my regular walks and had documented all of it and would report it directly to the COI. (Was even threatend by one [censored] who didn't like me taking pictures of him while he broke the law.) Rarely if ever would they send a ranger out. Allways too shorthanded keeping the drunks from running over each other on the water. I told them over and over again that handing out one big fine would solve the problem faster then anything! Word would get around the lake quick and the chainsaws would be silenced. As far as I know, not a single fine was imposed and the cutting on the north side of Big Sandy is now pretty much complete. If it wasn't for the fact that there isn't any water in the cove on the south side to view, it would be cut down there as well.
(Oh, and having met Ben Pinnell on a few occassions, it would not surprise me one bit if he turned out to be the one responsible.)
