First time poster, long time viewer here. My 72 yr old Dad and my uncle are on Tawakoni all week and so far have only found the catfish to be biting. I have not seen a sandbass post from Tawakoni in several weeks, is anybody doing any good out there at all? Trying to give my Dad some direction as to what to try the rest of the week.

It is excellent there! We fish it multiple times a week, the best thing you could do is hire a guide and pay attention real close.

I have not been there this year but Lenahorse advised me to go last year and it was pathetically easy to catch a limit of big magnum sandbass. hard to believe you could not catch a few there.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

We were on Tawakoni 46 weeks in the last 12 months per my logs, fishing is great now. Larger fish are showing up again about every trip. Hiring a good guide will drastically shorter the learning curve, learn the lake and have a great time.

That makes me jealous, for someone to be able to fish 46 weeks a year, especially on that gem of a lake! In about 21 years, if i'm still healthy and above ground, I will get my opportunity. I second the guide deal, I usually hire one when I get there for the first day of my trip if the season has changed. I fish there about 4 times a year. There are some real good guides there, that are a lot of fun to fish with.

Very sound advice there, just be sure you inquire if they fish bait or lures 1st if it matters to you any, we only lure fish. Hiring a guide 1st day without any weather changes will usually get you several good trips, tell them exactly what you want to expect from the start phone call and advise you are staying a few days, a good one should give you his cell to call him for help if needed the next day. Pay attention closely.

Haha, that's funny! We only caught a couple fish off of holiday humps so headed to the flats on the east side by the dam. That's where we found them. They were scattered in small schools, usually right on the edge of the flat on the drop offs. Caught all fish trolling deep diving crank baits. Hope the helps

Fish the humps west of the Greenville pump station in 12-14 feet and you will catch sandbass
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
