Well ladies and gents, I am very proud to say that I am about to make my very first record submission for both the Guadalupe river water body record blue Tilapia by weight AND Guadalupe River record blue Tilapia on the fly rod.
Got out on the river this past Friday and landed a monster tilapia with my 5wt on a pheasant tail. Didn't realize until it was too late that I should've submitted it. Well today I went back for round 2, drifting a black soft hackle midge under a strike indicator through a school of feeding tilapia, and it was on!
Let me tell you, today I was using my 3wt and MAN these guys are fun! Managed to catch 3 total, but knew the last was by far the biggest! Once I finally landed this big girl I knew I had to submit it! I made a call to a friend who just happens to have TPWD certified scale, and now just need to submit my paperwork!

Awesome fish!  Was glad to assist in weighing your fish. Congratulations on your two pending records.  Side Note: Also enjoyed seeing some of your past catches. You have caught some SUPER NICE fish!

Thanks guys! It was certainly a lot of fun catching them. There's few things I enjoy more than catching big fish on undersized fly tackle!
