And another double. Don't know why these hybrids are hanging around with all these whites. I guess I found some major structures that both species of fish wanted

A mess of fish. Biggest is 25" hybrids smallest is 19". Not once did we caught a throw back. All hybrids here are in their same yearling class of age 18.5" or bigger. How's that for a lake!!

You junior game warden can count whats in the pics above. I can assure you we still 15 white bass short of three limts. We dumped it all out on the boat and counted it. Working on the whites limits now if only we get a break from them hybrids.

Give Ron a call at Nekidtackle.com/ He will build you some Ronrigs that will withstand the hybrids and stripers. Although I did have 3 huge double digit hybrids on, and one pulled one of the leaders off at the boat one trip. Oh yeah, Nice fish!!

Problem is im not looking for hybrids or stripers. Got captain macs umbrella rigs for that. Im using the lighter rigs for them whites. They will not hit anything heavy gauge.

Ron makes the smaller rigs also that are 4" for crappie, 6" and 8" with heavy stainless steel wire that will take the punishment. Really sucks to have the problem of catching too many big fish! I wouldn't know about that lately though.

So here's the final report. Three limits of hybrids, three limits of whites. Although them hybrids were pestering us all day,it was great to hear drag screaming all day. Them hybrids bit well into sun set. We release so many we stop counting. Whites was thick but them hybrids always beat them to the bait first. We are going home now all soared arms and tired. We've been busting arsh all day on these hard fighting hybrids. Not once could we sat down for five minutes without a hybrid hitting the rigs every time we pass the schoolies.
Trolling with umbrella rigs is the ticket. Don't be coming out to Lake Somerville without umbrella rigs. You will do horribly on slabs alone when they are not interested in a slab. Saw a boat with three guys next to us right on top of a huge school slabbing for three hour straight. I give them credit for being persistent knocking that slabs all day,but they caught only very few white bass and no hybrids. Same scenario for the many boat that came out to try their luck. They fail miserably and leaved.

Where is this at? I can hardly find fish up here at RC. Might be worth the trip?!?! Lake Somerville. An hour and fifteen minutes North West of Houston. Trust me it is well worth the trip. Just bring some umbrellas as a back up plan. If you can send them down to the schoolies, they will eat it.
