300 ox66 is about 26gph and 150 ox66 is somewhere around 19 if i remember correctly, im sure you can pull it up online. i run a 250 ox66 and it likes gas and oil even more, but imo its the better engine if comparring to the hpdi. Less filters to replace and no high pressure pump to replace

It will suck the gas if you stick your foot in it. I run around 55mph at 4500rpm and it doesn't drink the gas.

if you buy one with a 300 on better expect to have it a long time because they are hard to sell some tournament trails don't allow them.there is not that much difference in performance in a Yamaha 250 to a 300. Only tournament that disallows the 300 is the Elites if your boat is rated for it.

About the biggest tournament I would fish would be bass-champs, I'm not good enough to waste the rest of my money on tourneys.
I'm finding that people have a "thinking" that a 300 is too big, but the 250 is just right. I asked my buddy and he said "he'd never buy a 300". I asked if he'd buy a 250 and his answer was "yes". So I said what's the difference in all reality, 2 mph? What makes a 250 a better choice over a 300? He doesn't have an answer.

A well cared for ox66 300 will likely last a lifetime of fishing..... someday I'm going to find the right Basscat or Champion to restore..... that's the motor I'll want..... probably do some shopping at Hydrotech and run it till I die

The Elites Do Not allow 300 hp, max 250 hp Yeah, I think he really meant that the elites only allow max 250hp and most others trails will allow it as long as the uscg plaque isn't exceeded. Not an issue for me and I hope that I like this boat as much as I like current skeeter.

He said he changed the water pump impellers and lower unit grease every year and that was it.

I know this motor will be a fuel hog, but what kind of comparison would it be against an old vmax 150 ox66? Half as many miles per gallon? 1 mile per gallon, 2mpg? People have a misconception of how much fuel a 300 burns. It burns No more than a 250 at 5,000 rpms. Only at WOT will it burn more fuel than a 250 HPDI. Have a good mechanic check it out before you buy it. I would not be afraid to buy a used 300 HPDI at all if it checked out well.

the biggest problems with hpdi motors the guys wouldnt service them the way Yamaha expect so they would run them until there was a problem an by then the motor was hurt. to change all of the filters on a hpdi is an expensive but important factor in keeping it running for the long haul.

You're right Frank.....i was thinking about a hydro tech motor I saw.....it had to be a 250 ...... but it made 340 or 370 at the prop shaft...... either way I'm too lazy to change all that ish on and HPDI
