I camped with my son at Fisherman's Point on RC last spring break. The fishing was great and we had a terrific time....we are planning to go back in a couple of weeks. I have not been there since last spring and wondered if the water level allows a boat launch? I haven't seen any information about RC lately. Has anyone launched from there recently? Can you get out of the marina?

I know they dredged fishermans point out back in the late summer, but I prefer to use the oak cove ramp.

The lake is up a little over 4 feet. The ramp is MUCH better, it is just steep. No problems launching or getting out of the marina. Just stay to the left side where it was dredged last summer.
Now, catching fish is another story. The water temp. (at least last Wed. and Thurs.) is very cold...47-50 degrees. The fishing has been very slow so far this year. This weeks warming trend should help that situation and get the fishing turned around hopefully. My log book indicates that on March 1st of 2006 we were catching all the fish we could handle. All schooling...I did not log the water temp. but I think it was quite a bit warmer than now.
A recent article in the Dallas Morning News said the fishing could slow down over the next few years due to the low water conditions and a less than optimum spawns. Hopefully this does not happen. We caught a bunch of fish last year.
Please practice catch and release when you can.
Good luck,
Capt. Rick

How is the boat ramp at Oak Cove? Can you easily launch and get out of the cove a 22ft. Center Console?

Oak Cove is no problem.

Ramp in good shape and about 5 to 7 feet all the way out of the cove.

The Lake is a little over six and a half feet low, and close to what it was at last Spring. Launching is no problem at Fisherman's Point. Fishing has been very slow since the cold snap. I've fished a couple of days each week, and today's two fish catch & more high winds prompted me to cancel the remaining trips this week. Lot's of baitfish, but few fish on the Main Lake areas that normally produce fish this time of year.

A few more days of warm up and the bite will be on.

Good Luck and Good Fishin'! smile
