 Verado idling high and drive not engaging correctly

I have a 2005 verado 225 with 60 hrs on it. Today it started revving a little higher in idle and when I would put it into gear it would jerk. When taken out of gear, it would idle even higher for a second, even up to 3k rpm's, then go back down. Then I would go to put it in gear again and it wouldn't engage. Just revved up. Also when revving up in gear without engaging, an alarm would beep for a few seconds. Anyone know what could be causing this?

You need to get it to a Merc dealer quick before you grenade the lower. Only way to find the problem is to hook the motor up to a diagnostic programmed laptop. It has one or more sensors bad.

Sounds like possible flooding VST and fuel is dumping back into engine through the vent hose.

What is VST? What would be causing the flooding?

VST or vapor seperator tank is the tank where the low pressure and high pressure pumps are located and it has a float switch that controls the fuel level in tank
