We have carp. Nothing can be worse than that.

Key fact about the lake they were introduced into: "native fish like blue gills, channel catfish, and sun fish". If there was LMB, Hybrid, Striper or any other predatory fish, the gold fish wouldn't stand a chance. I never heard of anyone fishing for blue gill, sun fish or catfish, use goldfish. Do you think a goldfish would stand a chance in Texoma or Tawakoni?

Dam steve. You got a salution there for that lake already to rid it of all them gold fish. Just stock that lake with stripers and hybrids. Problem resolve.

Yes, they still sell gold fish at Degray lake bait camps in Arkansas and you can buy gold fish here in Texas also. Porters sporting goods in coffee city on 155 south of Tyler. People use them for catfish and they work great.

As mentioned before, they can be sold as bait in Texas as we have predatory fish that can/will gobble them up.

MMMM Blackened goldfish and IPA what a meal JK. Not much different than the Black Gold minnows they used to sell around Texoma. They sucked for striper. You would get hit once in a school, while the shad and slab poles are getting hits left and right. We tried them two or three times and wasn't impressed. Black Gold Was barely ok on jug lines for blue cats as they didn't die easy. Still like shad better for free. MS
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

Bluewater Lake in New Mexico had a similar problem and they stocked the lake with Tiger Musky. I would like to go fish for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pVbwiZYljo

You can buy them at Leroy's by the Lavon dam just outside of Wylie. They're pretty easy to find at bait houses. I've used as a last resort for catfish several times, with only moderate success. I always felt kinda bad about it...you know, like I was using a pet for bait. Isn't the Black Salty kin to the goldfish?
