For you country folks, how do you get internet out in the country? Is it through satellite? If so, how good is the connection and speed?

I use mobile broadband (USB device) from Verizon . 5 G a month for $50. It beats the heck out of dial-up but it's nowhere as good as true broadband .

My only other option is satellite but it's more expensive and less reliable . I don't want TV AND net down when it's raining .

I had Hughes net for a while. It was expensive and basically about the same as dial up. eventually killed it increased my plan on my cell phone (Verizon). I can Hot Spot my laptop off my phone and its as fast as anything I've found. Plus when on boat, traveling, whatever, as long as I have service I got the ol inner web.

Yep, best I've found is verizon's LTE network. You have to be careful and not let games or windows automatically download updates. I'm sure windows 10 automatically downloading hurt a lot of people's cell phone bills when they were using their cell phone as a wifi hotspot.

You might go with a combination of whatever DSL is available and LTE from the phone when you want a little speed. Then let those big updates take place over DSL even if they take a few days.

Get used to managing your data and connections more carefully than if you lived in the city with an unlimited 20 Mbps broadband connection. Plus you will pay more.
