I had my back fused back in April and now am having a hard time throwing my cast net the old way I threw it. I just can't seem to get the spin with my back to throw it. Do any of ya'll know of another way to throw a cast net that will help me get a good opening of the net?

You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGR-wfvSxJgDoesn't require too much twisting and saves the shoulder. The downside is you really have to put the net in your mouth to be effective.

Just find a younger fishing partner that can throw the net. I used to fish with two old guys, I think that is the only reason they let me on their boat.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

I have back trouble and can't throw a cast net worth a hoot. I'm right-handed, and recently discovered that I can throw much better from the left side. You might give that a try.

That net thrower by Perfect Circle works real good for me. Quick and easy but the net needs a full 1.5 lbs/ft weight to make it sink fast enough. It's really this easy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvbdtR3qLq4

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

What size net are you throwing?
Smaller nets are significantly easier to throw.

Smaller nets are significantly easier to throw. Had a friend tell me get a 3 footer and it would be easier. Watching these videos has given me some ideas to try. Thanks ya'll.

The bare minimum should be 5ft. I couldn't imagine how long it would take to catch bait with a little 3ft net.

I second the EZ Throw. The net they come with is less than stellar, but once it gets worn beyond repair you can attach the aluminum ring to a quality net. Very easy and pancakes every throw, no bananas or tacos.

In the Army I fell 42ft and bounced off a concrete slab, so I have back problems myself and now elbow pain too. I look funny when I throw but it works. I throw a 6ft net but I keep my whole body from twisting by what my buddy calls my ballerina move lol. I turn my whole body in a full circle to get the net moving and opened. If you interested in seeing that in action I'll be catching bait later this evening and can video it for you.

Throw nets take there toll especially as ya get older.....the bigger the net harder the throw but if you can throw a big one 7 8 or 9ft is a must in the winter ( depending on local laws) and can get bait usually in 1 or 2 throws in the winter when there schooling......as for a small net yes they are easier to throw but take many throws to get bait and usually dont work in the winter.... It also helps if your fishing partners can throw as well i got 2 that can and one we knick named taco
If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....
