Whats the real difference in fishability. The worm weights are cheaper. I've used both interchangeable in the past

One is for "flipping" and one is for "worming". LOL I don't notice any difference fishing them, one just costs more than the other.
You can find general purpose bug killer or fire ant killer and each will be exactly the same but the fire ant killer will cost you more.

I think the idea is that with the flipping weight, which is slightly egg shaped, creates a little larger opening in the grass for the bait to fall through / not catch on the grass. The shape may also aid in dropping straight down as the weight is distributed differently.
I would use what you have the most confidence in.

i like a flipping weight when using bulkier plastics. Worm weight with a trick worm or something slim.

i like a flipping weight when using bulkier plastics. Worm weight with a trick worm or something slim. I pretty follow this process. The only difference is I usually have 1/2oz or smaller only in bullet weights, but mainly fish smaller sizes like 1/4 or less for bullet weights, and 1oz to 1/2 oz in flipping weights. Coach

I always thought the difference was due to the ID of the weight. Flipping weights have a larger ID to allow for larger OD line. And to accommodate pegs.

I don't care either. I grab whatever weight I have. Have never noticed any difference in the way they work.

There are a lot of folks that really drink the Koolaide. Worm weight, flipping weights. Really? It's not Koolaide. They are shaped differently and made differently. The worm weight is more long and narrow to keep in line with worms. Flipping weight is more short and compact. Also has a larger throat to accomodate pegs and such. Also flipping weights are better when fishing rocks than worm weights IMO. They shouldn't cost you any different but definitely have a purpose.

Not Kool aid try punching Hydrilla mats with 5/16 or 3/8 oz. weights. will see the difference.

^^^that's irrelevant. Flipping weight go down to 3/16ths....it's all about the shape and mold....not about the size. (no pun intended LOL)
