One night some friends and I were going to go steal the cannon across town at Hardin Simmons Univ. For some reason I took my wife's car (gf then). Made it about 3 blocks when I got lit up. I knew I was going to jail, and of course all my drunk buddies thought it was funny. Well the cop that pulled me over was engaged to the chick I worked with at a dry cleaners. He said he pulled me over cause of a license plate light being out. He laughed when I told him what we were up to. There were 5 of us and that cannon must weigh 1000lbs, and instead of bringing my or someone else's truck we took my gf's Malibu. He told me to turn around and not leave the apartment again that night. I said ok, ty much. Funny thing is he gave y buddy a MIP about two weeks earlier, and could have given him a dwi. Seems in Abilene they don't really care if you drink and drive. Can't tell anyways cause it's a rule if you live in Abilene you drive like S anyways.

Leave our cannon alone!! slinger Best thing about going to college in Abilene was lights flash yellow at 11pm so just had to keep it between the lines! Was long time ago now though. If I have more than a couple I don't expect to drive anywhere now days.

I don't drink often at all. When I do, I'll have one and not worry about it because it doesn't impact me. I would say that after that first one, I give up the keys. But honestly, I just don't ever have more than one at a time so it doesn't matter. I voted 2-3 since my limit is more than 1, but that's kind of a mis-statement.

I said 1, but in reality it is two. Never more than two under any circumstance.

I drink so rarely it might as well be none. I'll have a capful of goldschlager or kahlua in my cocoa around Christmas. Very very rarely, when we're out and about on vacation, Angela will order a fruity rum thing and ask me to drink it with her.

I just don't and have never liked the taste of alcohol. Nothing against other people enjoying it... but please don't endanger my life. Beer and wine is for cooking. Not for drinking.

I was with you until your last two sentences. Driving drunk is awful and I don't do it. Endangering other's lives like that is reprehensible. That being said, beer and wine enhance the heck out of some dishes, but they're still for drinking. And I know how good a cook/bake you are, I just respectfully disagree with your last two sentences.

I just don't like the flavor of beer or wine for drinking. Love them for cooking and I have many dishes that absolutely require them. I keep Shiner, sake, and a few different kinds of wine stocked. My comment is only for my own personal preference.

I've got a pretty good liquor selection in the pantry. One of the favorite stews around here is a French red wine beef stew. I just cook with it... Not drink it. smile

Yeah me too. Does this mean we are grandfathered against such laws?

I was grandfathered when they raised it to 21.

Not if you lived in Texas at the time.

At the time if you were already 19 when they made the drinking age 21, then they grandfathered you and you could buy beer/liquor in Texas.
