I only drink in my cave, or very near my bed if not the cave. I won't drink and drive.

Since posting, I've been trying to remember the last time I had a drink away from home. I can't remember when it was.

I used to drink and drive all the time, never an issue, but should have been. DUI/DWI's have saved a lot of lives. I haven't had a drink in over 10 years.

1 drink only. More than one, The Boss takes over. Here in Alabama, I'm either in my backyard grilling stuff on the BGE, or next door at the neighbors oggling his latest girlfriend. Yep, I'm the dirty old man that lives next door.

What are you considering a drink Kat? Because a beer vs a mixed drink is makes a difference IMO.

I tend to see them as being equal. A drink is anything from a beer to a glass of wine to a small margarita. One of those punchbowl margaritas is something completely different.

A double crown and coke is considered a drink by some standards. 3 of those and you're feeling it. 3 beer's and I'm still good to go.

I was taught early on that a drink is a drink. From nih:

In the United States, one "standard" drink contains roughly 14 grams of pure alcohol, which is found in:

12 ounces of regular beer, which is usually about 5% alcohol
5 ounces of wine, which is typically about 12% alcohol
1.5 ounces of distilled spirits, which is about 40% alcohol

https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-health/overview-alcohol-consumption/what-standard-drink

*edit* so for the example you gave, a double crown & coke is probably two drinks, assuming two jiggers of crown.

One of the busiest roads in dry asp Tyler was a bouncy two lane to the county line. Nice town that Tyler Texas. Right up there with Nacogdoches.

I drink so rarely it might as well be none. I'll have a capful of goldschlager or kahlua in my cocoa around Christmas. Very very rarely, when we're out and about on vacation, Angela will order a fruity rum thing and ask me to drink it with her.

I just don't and have never liked the taste of alcohol. Nothing against other people enjoying it... but please don't endanger my life. Beer and wine is for cooking. Not for drinking.

I was with you until your last two sentences. Driving drunk is awful and I don't do it. Endangering other's lives like that is reprehensible. That being said, beer and wine enhance the heck out of some dishes, but they're still for drinking. And I know how good a cook/bake you are, I just respectfully disagree with your last two sentences.

Agreed. I was just stirring the pot/adding to the conversation.
