Looking at making a trip to Falcon at the beginning of October. Any info on what to expect would be greatly appreciated! Looking for lodging and fishing info. I'm taking two of my best friends, and neither have caught a DD. I'd love to give them that opportunity. Thanks for any info!

I caught my PB of 8lbs off my kayak in November last year. The lake was getting low but with all this rain it should go back up. October is a few months away so who knows what it will be like. Falcon Lake Tackle (flt) gives a report usually once a week. Very entertaining to read and they will give you a rough idea of the current patterns. You should stop in and say hi and buy a couple of baits, good people. Off of 83 before you turn into the county ramp in Zapata. The best advice is fish rocks. By looking at the waters edge you can tell where you will see some areas to try. Start shallow and go deep looking for rocks, have a good graph and everything else should fall into place. Also big hardwoods around creeks. What's your favorite presentation? Crankbait, t-rig, spinner bait?

I'm taking two of my best friends, and neither have caught a DD. I'd love to give them that opportunity. Thanks for any info! We just had a group return. Had a great trip. Lake is very very low and fishing is really different than in the bushes/trees! Lots of good fish on Spinnerbaits up on the wind blown Points. 6x Crankbaits and 10" worms out deeper. We flipped the old trees on the Mexican side across from Valeno with Watermelon/Red HooDaddys and had some good fish. Watch out for the nets there. They are very busy! The fish down there bite ALL DAY even in the Heat. We stayed at Oso Blanco motel and it was good. You can get by with 20 Fluoro and if you deep crank you can do 15 away from the trees. Braid worked well for us flipping in the trees but get more bites on Fluoro. If you can get some 25 or 30 that would be the best.

Sun bridge Inn is a nice place to stay. Make sure you tell them you have a boat. Bait wise , I would take some Watermelon Orange Brush hogs and some 3/4 oz Watermelon Red Football jigs. I'd have some DD22's as well. Fish Rocks..if you can't feel rock...move.

Send a PM to (theduece). He has the nicest place to stay on Falcon with very reasonable prices. It's a house on the lake, you can beach your boat walk up to eat or nap or watch football. Very comfortable and your boat is under covered parking behind a fence at night.....can't beat it.
As it is right now the fishing should be lights out!

I don't see things changing much from now till then unless we have a hurricane. The fish will be all over the place you can fish deep 10 to 25ft on rocks and deep points and catch them or fish shallow hardwoods. If you PM me before your trip I don't mind giving you a few pointers.
