Going this weekend to pick up a new worm/jig rod. What are yall's opinions on the micro guides? Any significant advantages over regular guides?

It's like ford and chevy, some like the micro and some don't. I like the micro guides and use them for flipping, texas rig and shallow water area's. Then I use the regular guides for carolina fishing and just deep water. But a each there own. Buy one and try it out and go from there is the only way you will know. Good luck.

I have and use both....the one thing I will say that I hate about micro guides.....if you use braid with a leader (some peeps do for flipping stuff) the knot will catch in the last couple eyes sometimes....

besides that I do think the micro guides enhance the feel and smoothness. You can't really go wrong either way...like NITRO said...it's all about what YOU like.

Unless you are flipping braid to leader exclusively and you only reel up so the knot attaching the two is short of the tip on a micro guide rod, the knot going through the last eye will drive you nuts, or at least it does me.

I have used both my reason for not using the Micro guides is I like using Fluorocarbon line after a little time fluorocarbon will start to have line curls that will not like going through the micro guides unless you are throwing heavy weights. I like throwing light weights on my worm rod and it just didn't work well for me. I guess if I was throwing only mono I may look back at the micro guides, because I do think the extra guides gives you a better feel on the bottom when comparing regular guides VS micro. The other thing was the guides used on the rod I bought, got rip apart by the braid I used in a couple days. just my .02

From my experience in cold temps the micro guides will form ice and freeze up faster. Also seems like the micro guides are much easier to break off than regular guides.

Not a fan of micro guides. Seems like line tangles around them easier and they're more fragile.

Not a fan of the Micro guides either. I will take the regular guides any day. IMO

I've become a fan of Macro Guides. In between the regular and micro guides.

Had a rod with micro guides and as said, if you fish with a leader the knot joining it to the main line will snag on the last guide. Micro guides may be more sensitive than regular ones but I couldn't tell.

I have older eyes and stringing line through micro guides is an issue. Ice is more problematic. I have had less guide problems with micros than regular guides. As has been said, macro guides are the best of both worlds for me. I can't say if macro guides are better for casting or make a rod more sensitive but they work well and I prefer them over micro guides and the larger old style guides.

I don't like the micro-guides.

I don't notice a difference in performance but like someone else mentioned they will freeze up in cold weather. Have not had any breaking issues with mine. So if you fish cold weather I would say dont get one. If it costs more than the same rod without micros I would say don't get one.

I like Micro guides because it's easier to put them into the rod tubes in my boat. With a sock, it's a mute point. I also like that micros seem to break off the rod less frequently than my regular K guides. The issue is when the guides get bent, from the rod box, then I straighten them out, the regulars get metal fatigue and break. My fault....but it has never happened with a micro guide.

I don't like threading line on micros. I also do not like that the guides pop through the rod sock.

As for casting, I can't really say one is better than the other, as I don't have the exact same rod blank and lure tied on each to really compare. I'd guess that they are about the same. As for sensitivity? That is a factor of the rod blank, weight of the guides, and line type. So...again, don't know which is really better. I'd assume my TiSIC guides are probably better in this respect, since even the tiny micro Fuji's weigh more than the TiSIC guides.

They look cool though.
