What color do you use?

Do you use the same color as your other baits for the same rig?

I'm wanting to expand my baits a little more

White and wat red. I have a lot of other colors but these are my only fish catchers.

Fished with a guide once that told me it didn't matter what I threw on my c-rig as long as I had some watermelon seed flukes to change to. He said they were a must on that lake. My partner and I laughed every time we caught a fish on them over the next few trips.

White
Watermelon Red
Watermelon Seed

I always start with white switching to watermelon red if it's sunny out or watermelon seed if it's not.

The white is either ON or it's not. The good thing is that the fish tell you really quickly.

If I feel like it's necessary to add dye or if I just want to, because dangit sometimes it's fun to make your wife smell your garlicy fishy hands when you get home, I usually dye the tail 1/4" or less with JJ's Magic in chartreuse. If I'm feeling wild and crazy I'll take a black spike-it pen and draw eyes, and a kill spot on the white flukes to make it a more realistic looking shad. And if I feel like going Buckwild I'll draw eyes and an orange throat on the watermelon baits to make it look more like a bluegill. Making it super "realistic" looking, that term is very relative, is probably more fun than anything for me to do than it is effective on the fish. But boy do I catch em when I put make up on the girls.
