Congatulations on the new to you boat! Charge the batteries when you return from the lake, keep clean fuel filters in it and change the water pump impeller every 2 years regardless how much it is used.
Be safe and enjoy!

i am in kyle tx 15 miles south of austin Too far south for me. I have worked there but it has been a few year's. I did the plumbing in the LaQuinta that is on the interstate. I thought maybe if you were in the DFW area we could meet.

ownership tip....wear your kill switch, don't drink too too much, inspect your trailer regularly, keep calm as there are a lot of idiots with boats, keep a legit first aid kit... I have a tourniquet onboard because there is a meatgrinder behind every boat

Don't drop your trailer to deep when loading the boat, let the bunks guide the boat on the trailer.. Always trim all the way down before taking off, never make a sharp turn trimed up high drop the motor down just a little to get a better bite into the turn. Never anchor the stern (transom) into waves, pull your prop from time to time to clear fishing line from around the shaft, it can wear the lower units seal out, thus causing a blown bottom half $$$ ouch.. Be safe, have fun, and be careful, not everyone is watching where their going...

Safety is paramount when on the water. Always think safety. Read up on boater safety or better yet take a class. There are too many things you need to know than what can be given here. You will receive great advice here but you need to be schooled, self taught or take a class.
Keep in mind there are no roads on the water. Yield to other boats and don't get too close. Say you are cruising and another boat is coming towards you. Make a move one way or the other to tell him you see him. A responsible boater will make a move the opposite way to let you know he sees you. Don't follow directly behind a boat towing a tube or skier. Always keep an eye out directly in front of you for anything floating in the water including humans. Help people who are stranded on the water. COMMON COURTESY! USE IT! Because about 80% of others won't. Its more of a safety thing. Wear your life jacket while underway and use your kill cord.
Most importantly HAVE FUN! But be safe doing it. When you leave the ramp alone or with passengers you #1 responsibility is to return to the ramp safely. Congrats on the new boat!

-Don't forget to put up your lights if your out in the early morning or later evening. -Be sure to turn off all your electronics back off once you have put it back on the trailer. -Even if you have GPS consider carrying or at least looking at a map of the lake before you go out. -Pay attention to your surroundings esp. changing weather conditions -know your limits, and your rides limits -bring plenty of water -a small tool kit never hurts, zip ties, electrical tape, 550 cord, small hand tools, whatever you can think of you might need in a pinch -an anchor or rope, better to be powerless tied to a tree or on anchor then adrift -I prefer to fish alone, but a buddy can be a built in safety feature.
You will get used to it, trial and error on what works and doesn't work for you. Have fun, good luck and God Bless

Congrats! Make a list of trailering, launching and safety checks at first until you get into a good routine. Always take your time and never feel rushed by others!
