Hi I'm new to the fishing forum. I fish around the Austin area every chance I get for bass but am looking to expand into saltwater. I am focusing on trout and redfish. A buddy and I are planning on taking a trip to the Redfish Bay/Aransas Pass area this Septmeber. Neither one of us have kayak fished the flats. We wouldn't mind planning this trip with a couple other people if you are interested. If not, we definitely would like any advise and pointers you have to offer. Thanks in advance!

Buy a hook n line fishing map(ACK has the best selection and prices) with kayak access points and look up the ACK on line kayak access points map they will help with the learning curve. The HnL map has guide and pro fisherman information on spots and time of year to fish them and you can copy the access points gps from the HnL map or the ACK map to your phones gps and go right to them.
Lures I recommend you have,
Zara spook/Mirro Lure She dawg/walk the dog topwater - bone, mullet and morning glory Johnson silver minnow spoon in gold - 1/8 and 1/4 oz DOA shrimp - new penny, rootbeer gold, bone, morning glory and electric chicken paddle tail swimbait(I use the DOA CAL and saltwater assassin) - plum/white, rootbeer gold with chart tail, morning glory and white/chart.
I use these up and down the Texas and Louisiana inshore coast and do well enough.

I would suggest just keeping it simple. Popping corks with gulp and paddle tails are all you need.
