I am looking to buy a kayak that will be versatile in both freshwater and in coastal waters near oyster beds. I am trying to decide between an abs and a polyethylene hull. I want to make sure that I get something that will be able to take the roughness of shallow beds but will be able to move quickly and swiftly through the water. Thanks for any input you have!

IMO you should should go Poly, I dont see a lot of ABS is the salt unless its just in shallow marshes.

The thing about abs is that it cracks. Sure, you can drag it across oyster beds all day with only light scratching but put some weight on it while you are on those beds and it could crack....
