Not trying to ignore proper maintenance on my engine but is it NECESSARY to use "only" Mercury 2 cycle oil in a Mercury. I have a 150 OptiMax. I remember years and years ago it seemed all Mercs then must use QuickSilver. If so, I gotta find a place near Bayou Vista that sells it by the bulk. thanx for any info here.

Quicksilver and Mercury oil are the same. Most Walmarts and Academy's sell it. I try to stay with what the Manufacturer says to run and have never had an oil related problem.
