I'm jealous of how many you have in gyms. I wasn't able to play as much as I would've liked this weekend.

Kattelyn. I guess I need to get nearer to civilization. Wasteland out here. Plus I need a better phone. iPhone4S ain't quite cutting it for this game, plus I have to keep it plugged in while playing or battery dies in about 10 minutes.

How does that work? You got there to fight or train? I have seen it put both ways. I am just a lowley level 7 guy... what should I be doing in the gym?

I dont want some 11 yo kid to kick my arse and take all my pokemons or some chit.

If there's someplace near you with a whole bunch of interesting historical markers or murals or just sites of interest, go check it out. I still haven't made it to downtown Fort Worth and when I was in Dallas, the game was down. Mansfield and Grand Prairie downtown are pretty awesome.

You can get a backup battery pack for your phone for about $30. I've talked to a lot of folks and they were complaining about their phones dying, and instead of having to buy a whole new phone, you just buy a battery backup. This was working for kids riding their bikes from Burleson to Mansfield, riding around all day, and then he said it'd work until he got home that night. YMMV.

Went to a park here in Mansfield on Friday night and I was in shock and absolutely pleased. It's 10:30pm, and the park is PACKED. People walking everywhere, laughing, talking, enjoying a warm summer night. I was absolutely delighted. I'm fairly nocturnal in the summer, it's just too damn hot. And in the past, it was always empty. Nobody wanted to be outdoors, especially during the summer. And nobody wanted to go outside on a warm summer night and just walk. Now I had this beautiful, clean, well lit park absolutely packed well after dark with people of all ages.

I got the sense of the old Promenade that I've read about from the turn of the century. When people did go out and just go walking through the parks as a means to be seen. I was just having a blast.

you dont lose pokemon, once you pick which team you want to be, yellow, blue, Red. you can fight for your team and take one over for your side. To take one over you have to fight in the gym and defeat every pokemon with your team of top 6, once you defeat them all one of their pokemon get kicked out, you fight it again till there is none left. it becomes neutral and you can take it over and place your own pokemon in it. if they gym is owned by your team you can train in it till it levels up then you can place your pokemon in it to help defend the gym, a gym can have up to a max of 10 pokemon from your colors team. every gym your defending and have pokemon in will get a reward every 21hrs. If the gym is defeated the pokemon list you put in will return to your pokemon you just revive it heal it up and hes ready to go again.

That helped... I am on team blue. I selected my team yesterday. I agreed with their philosophy most.

I'm nowhere near a gym at the moment, so I can't send you a screen shot. But to the right hand side of the screen, towards the bottom is the train button. But the left hand side, if your dudes are high enough level, you can claim a spot in the gym, OR if you are strong enough, you can take down a gym. When you have a spot in a gym, you can claim 10 coins per claimed spot every 20 hours. You can only claim one spot per gym, but if you have your dudes in a bunch of different gyms, you can make some money.

You assign a pokemon to a gym and no matter what, it stays in your inventory. You just can't use him for anything else or level him up or evolve him while he's in the gym. When the gym is defeated, he returns to your inventory out of hit points, so you use all those stupid potions in your inventory to heal him back up and that's it.

You have to claim the coins for the gym. It doesn't come to you automatically. Click on the "Shop" and upper right hand corner it will give you the place to claim your coins.

The timer to claim pokecoins and dust resets about once every 21 hours or so. If you put a defender in a gym and claim the 10 coin/500 stardust reward, and then walk down the block and place another defender, you're SOL for a day. If you have strong enough pokemon, or gyms that aren't highly contested, place defenders in several before claiming the reward.

The catch is that you have to watch that timer. If it elapses and a reward is available, but someone knocks you out of the gym before you claim it, that pending reward is forfeit.

Since Instinct is the team with the fewest members, there aren't many yellow gyms, so I don't plan on holding any - I mainly attack them for experience, try to hit a small cluster to get a halfway decent award, and then just assume I'll have my pokemon back in my inventory in a few hours.

Really reluctant to post, but from what I'm seeing, a lot of folks are confused about this. They think if something spawned someplace once, it's always going to be there. I've had a squirtle spawn in my front yard. Jacob has had pikachu spawn in the warehouse. It's more about percentage chance of anything in particular spawning. You have 151 different varieties, each one has a percentage chance of spawning. Being near water raises the probability of water types spawning (which is why I'm overrun with them).

Rats and pidgeys probably something like a 10/150 chance. Going down to .03% chance for other things. What would increase your odds would be go where there's a lot of lures set up so things are constantly spawning. Near a water feature if you're wanting water types, but anything can spawn anywhere.. except for the things that simply Do Not Spawn in North America.
