 Fishing docks question

When you guys throw worms, jigs, etc around docks do you always fish the bottom? Some docks are in 6 feet of water then going down the bank there are others in 20 feet. Just curious what others do.

Senko will catch them on the fall. +1 to this, senkos all the way, wacky and Texas rig. I hop them up once or twice and that will bring them a few feet up and usually bring out a strike as they fall down from fish on the bottom and the ones that sense the pop up action 3-5 feet off the bottom.

I like skipping a big jig under docks the faster fall rate seems to trigger a reaction bite for me.

Thanks. So you guys DO generally let your baits sink to the bottom? Even if it's a dock in 20 feet of water?

I've never found a dock in 20ft. of water around here. Found one in 15 fow at Texoma once but the lake was up a couple of feet.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.
Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

Some lakes around us have docks in 40' of water. If they are real deep, I try to fish the ones around channel swings. I'll pitch under it, let it fall for 10-15 feet then bring it and cast again. In my experience, if they don't hit it on the fall, I don't get bit. I usually have 4-5 different jigs tied on from 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz. Sometimes they're holding tight and want a slow fall, sometimes a fast fall triggers them. Either way I rarely let it get all the way to the bottom. I also mess with pendulum falls. I've had them where they won't hit it on a straight vertical fall. But a pendulum gliding fall with trigger them.

Try the flying lure. It goes where other lures can't!  Seriously you will get most of your bites on the fall. you will just have to pay attention and see where that strike comes from. In shallow water I like a bait that falls slow. The deeper water you are in the faster the fall for me. I like the senko in shallow water and something texas rigged in the deeper water.

When you use that wacky rig on a senko do you use a weighted hook or just let the weight of the senko take it down slowly? What hook?

I gotcha buddy, I generally don't even fish docks with piers. I find more fish under the floating docks. The algae sticks to them them and the bait fish like them. Also they produce shade better since they're partway submerged in the water. I find a lot more suspending fish under floating docks than piered docks

I don't use the wacky rig. I get better action and more strikes with a simple weightless wide gap worm hook like a 3 or 4 gama. Just thread it through the end, back through the body and slightly bury tip.

What hook? 1/0 gamataksu wacky rig hook, usually just let the senko weight drift itself down for a slow fall. If the waters are rougher, I usually go ahead and drop shot or change to Texas rig altogether and add weight til I can reach the bottom comfortably.
