Is it even possible anymore to launch a boat and drive up river from Buchanan to Colorado Bend Park?

Or is the water just too low?

Hows the fishing at CBSP? Any whites yet?

Thanks

The only ramp open is at Paradise Point.....Be very carefull. As of Thursday evening, Lake Buchanan is 12 feet low...I know that when I use to run up to the water falls, the water depth was 6 to 10 feet and up to 20 feet in holes. So, I would think that if you have a flat bottom jon boat with a jet drive, you could make it. I would take a jon boat or kayak and launch at Colorado Bend Park and paddle down stream....But then again, I have only been to Highland Lake Marina (10 feet) under dock.

saw on the TPWD website fishing reports that the CBSP boat ramp is closed. I am very worried that my anual white bass malay is in jeopardy! I guess they still have the spawn.

does anyone know if the lakes down there have came up some since the video. I know the video was pretty current but Lewsiville has came up nearly 5 feet in a couple months.
I'm just curious. I used to go to Windy Point all the time when I was teaching SCUBA. I took hundreds of students there. I bet the dive spot on windy point is out of water from what I saw. I know at a normal lake depth I have dove on SCUBA over 95 feet off of Windy point. Travis is deep there at WP.
I was thinking of making the trip with boats but not with the lake that low.
It will come back.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

I went out there today. The ramp is closed, but a few people were launching jon boats there.

The whites are not biting at all now. They were decent last week but nobody has been catching them this week at the park.

As it is right now there will not be a white bass run this year. My vacation to the Colorado River is off and looking for alternate river that is flowing. Yes, it is that bad. Need alot of rain very soon to save the WB run up river.

I was there Mon-Tues and caught 20 or so out of the kayak. A few crappie added to the mix. Downstream of the park about a mile, just past the first bend. Conditions at the park are similar to last year albeit a little lower. If nothing changes (which it always does) I would expect to be catching them in the same spots as last year, which means that most of the catching will start in front of the ranger station and downstream from there. Upstream will be very shallow, great wading and slow fishing. The kayak comes in handy when conditions aren't favorable for wading. No powerboats at all anywhere. It was great.

Launched the kayak at Cedar Point on Buchanan today to see how low it really is going up the Colorado. I didn't have to paddle far. Maybe a 1/4 mile. Absolutely couldn't go any further in my kayak!!! 3 inches of water and 3ft of muck. The only way I could have gone further was to ditch the kayak and start walking the bank but I couldn't leave my yak behind. It is so incredibly low that there is no question in my mind that the spawn up river will be drastically affected if we don't get rain. In other words prepare to fish the run at Cedar Point and not CBSP.
