JACOB�S INJURY AND VISION

Our 18YO son Jacob, who'll attend the University of Oregon on a baseball/academic scholarship this fall, was struck in the right eye by a golf ball on Monday afternoon July 18 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. We are looking for the facility and surgical staff most capable of saving his vision.

Six hours following the injury, retinal specialist John Hyatt, MD, performed surgery in Ashland, Oregon. Barby and I arrived later that night. Wednesday, July 20, we arrived home in Dallas and Thursday, July 21, Jacob was examined by Dr. Deborah Chong, MD, at Texas Retinal Associates.

While we are extremely grateful to the doctors who have helped Jacob thus far, we are exhausting every possible treatment option. We are looking for the best eye-trauma surgical staff and facility � any information would be greatly appreciated.

Jacob�s diagnosis is as follows:
� Ocular laceration with prolapse and loss of intraocular tissue.
� Hemorrhagic choroidal detachment
� Total retinal detachment
� Primary hypotony
� Fracture of orbital floor
� Laceration without foreign body of right eyelid

We are praying for a miracle and are thankful for all the support we have received so far.

I've been meaning to ask you about him. My daughters told me what happened, please let us know if there is anything we can do. We are praying for his recovery. If I learn of any recommended doctors, we'll let you know.

Prayers sent and prayers work. Several years ago a younge man at my church suffered an eye injury with an arrow. I dont remeber all the details. After a couple of surgeries and several weeks recover his sight was returned. He now has 20/20 in that eye.
