Some have asked me so... Got out on Ray Roberts at 8 AM today. Thought it would be late. Put my kayak in the water, only a few boats out in the open water. Begin to paddle out and boom! Massive sandie boil. Cast a lil George, hammered several. The boil subsided and reappeared approximately 20 yards away. Paddled there, boom! More sandies. This happened over and over consistently until 11 AM and each lasted about 30-45 seconds. It was crazy. Some were still hitting the top by 11 but not in schools. I then dropped slabs to the bottom deeps and reeled more in. The thing is, NOT ONE was legal. All were 8-9" but it was some of the most fun fishing I've ever had. I ran into others that had stringers full. I've never experienced the boils that late in the morning. I usually fish Eagle Mountain but will be changing that. The temp began to get a little warm but was not bad at all compared to prior mornings. That may be the reason. Well, that and the solunar cycle. Anyway, There ya go.
Stay hungry my friends!

Nice. Well done. I search and search last week one afternoon. One of my kids got "sea sick" so we called it quits after stumbled onto them.

Nice report, sometimes a 1/2 to 1 oz slab jigged vertically behind the schools just a foot above or bouncing of the bottom will help with catching the larger fish in the school

That's been the norm lately, I was running from Wolf Island to the marina and ran through a bunch boiling on top. I made a U turn and came back for some action. I caught a few but not one would have measured. They would disappear and show up 20 to 50 yards away. I found a school of bass that was the same way. It took a little bit to get them going even though they were popping everywhere.

went out yesterday morning with the wife. Got on the water around 7:00. Found groups schooling near the dam, over by the state park and a few by the island, but everything was 7 - 9". Bite slowed around 8:30, then started up again around 9:30. Got into a school south of the island that stayed up for about an hour and a half, again, most of the fish under 10". Got 7 keepers. All fish caught on yellow slabs, white jigs and pop-r's. I cut one of the hooks off on the slabs to make it easier unhooking those little guys. Visited with the G.W. for a few minutes and she said small ones are everywhere! Next year should be awesome!

I was trying to avoid the little sandies so I used a Zara Spook Jr., hoping for a good sized bass. I ended up catching this good sized sandie on it. Using other smaller lures, the small sandbass were all over them.

I had the same issue back on July 4th weekend. We SMACKED the sandies, but only 2 were legal.
