Have been considering a kayak/canoe hybrid. At first considered the Ultimate FX and WS Commander. After demo both the Native and Commander, preferred the Commander over the Native. Both great kayaks, but for me the Commander was easier to stand in, tracked slightly better and preferred the captains perch. Native had the better seat, hands down. Recently someone suggested the Jackson Kilroy, have not demo the Jackson but wanted to get opinions or input on the Kilroy and how it compares with the Commander in regards to tracking, ability to stand and as a overall fishing platform.

I own the Kilroy, the Cuda 12 and the new Pescador Pro 120. To me the Kilroy is the most comfortable and easiest to paddle. It has lots of ways to store things with pole tubes inside, lots of bungees and gear trac. Love the hard deck for a place to lay stuff and semi protection from splash and sun and the little glove box it has is convenient. My only issues are 1) the wall sealing off the rear hatch isn't sealed good so will need to caulk that good to make it water tight, 2) if you get water in it you have to turn it over to drain out of these rim holes. You can' t ever get all the water out that way. Will have to sop it out. The false floor will get some trash caught underneath it thus making cleaning a little more difficult. 3) Not really a level spot to floor mount a transducer although I've seen it done but still was angled some, so your alternative is a swing arm which is ok but catches grass, moss etc. Otherwise it is really stable, easy to stand in, easy to paddle. Probably like it best out of the three I own.

I'm no expert, just and old guy with a bad back. But I have tried a few kayaks and settled on the Kilroy. Actually mine is a Tripper 12, but they are 90% the same, the difference is in the fishing accessories. The Tripper is also $500 cheaper than a Kilroy and for another $50 or so I have it set up the way I want.

I love it, my priorities are stability, comfort, and ease of paddling. I don't think you can beat the Kilroy/Tripper for a combination of those three.
