Yep, still does. Remarried to a lady named Brenda who has a business. They have a 4 yr. old daughter. This will be Velvicks last year fishing BASS, he's retiring. Maybe he'll take better care of his business.

I'd never stay there again. Why would anyone want to buy it? It should be bulldozed.

His wife's name is Belinda. They have filed for bankruptcy and have nothing to do with the day to day operations.

If you had rather stay in a trailer at River Street, that is super with awning for boat and grill outside; then give me a shout; but ASAP. I leave for KY. Lake tomorrow for 10 days.

For all interested ---- You can call Tommy at River street lodging anytime no need to call Mr. Harper. thumb

True, his wife's name is Belinda, I misspelled it as Brenda. If you look on Amistad Lake Resort website the introduction says " Welcome to Byron Velvick's Amistad Lake Resort" so one would think he still owned it. No google news reported a bankruptcy but I guess Captain Chunk has personal knowledge. I'm like Will Rogers, all I know is what I read in the paper, lol.

Pure speculation then that Velvick doesn't still owns it. If it was under bankruptcy as Chunk suggested I doubt it would be open. Thanks for checking and posting, hope it didn't take away from your fishing time. Have a goodun.

The hole area has gone down hill due to low water and poor fishing. It's not his fault that he can't invest money into a Bizz that's will have little or no return. Instead of bashing just suggest another location that you have had a good experience.

Thanks

Fishing at times hasn't been the greatest, still a lot of water in the lake, IMO one of the biggest problems is there are a lot of people that have some kind of residence there. Whether it be a travel trailer at a park, or a mobile home etc.. Several years ago we would see Byron there often, hadn't seen him in a long time and the service isn't like it used to be. I heard the "he filed for bankruptcy" story back in February, not sure if it's true or not and its none of my business to speculate. I wish the place and Byron the best of luck and hope it turns around for him and the community, I enjoy going down there as well as many other people.

The bankruptcy is true for ALR. A bankruptcy may/may not have an obvious impact on daily operations of a business. These are company/creditor issues.

Sounds like what happened to Anglers Lodge. Bankruptcy, for sale then closed. Horrible rooms, leaking roof, and a staff that couldn't care less is why.
