Here is a video of my Anchor Line system. Extremely cheap, requires no tools, and very effective.

Thank you for posting this. It has already saved my anchor for me twice.

I have a similar setup, but this appears to be MUCH more user-friendly. As far as an anchor, though, I made my own anchor with 4 or 5 two-foot lengths of galvanized chain clipped onto a carabiner clip.. It is plenty heavy to keep my kayak in place, plus I can remove lengths if it is too heavy for what I need. It also is much less likely to get snagged like the typical anchors are.

I agree with AggieKayak that pieces of chain are hard to beat with regards to hanging up issues and adjustability. In most circumstances I can get by with a single 16" length of heavy chain for something as big as my Big Rig. But if you fish deeper or in currents/winds that are strong, just carry along another length or two of chain and clip them on.

Chain also take up less space I think.

Brad

I just modified my anchor to this exact setup...with the exception that my anchor is links of chain instead of a kayak anchor.....excited to try it out!

Very nice setup.

I use a 1/4 rope about 75 long, tied to a 6 anchor chain which is connected to a 4lb anchor. Will hold me stationary in 25 of water in 25mph winds. I remove the chain when anchoring on grassy bottoms.
