What's your preference for flipping hard cover, bushes, willows, docks (not matted grass)? Flipping Jigs or Pegged Tx Rigs?

More often than not I like to use this flipping jig. I don't always like messing around with fixing the plastic on the hook. If the cover is light then I'll most likely use a Tx rig.

A Texas rigged tube is a great bait around hard cover. Comes through cover really well and skips as well as a senko.

If they are keying in on shad I like to flip a swim jig into the trees
Sometimes it doesn't matter and both will work great.

i prefer flipping jigs, wont hesitate to drop down to 1/4oz when flipped in 10ft or less

Edit: I have more confidence in jigs, i also feel you can change presentations easier by switching up the trailer. Along with that, i feel i catch better quality fish with the jig and its bulkier presentation.

To me its more of a confidence thing. If your good at jig fishing then go with that. If not then TX Rig. I used to be a TX rig guy but when I learned how to jig fish (there is a big difference) I started flipping with a jig almost exclusively. Both will catch fish. TX rig will probably catch more but jigs tend to catch better quality fish. There are times when you need to down size and when that happens I will throw a TX rig. Just my 2 cents.

I have more confidence in a t-rig. Wish I had more confidence in a jig, but I just haven't developed it yet.

Really nasty heavy cover...with a bunch of knarly small twiggy branches? A flipping hook with a Biffle bug. A 1oz tungsten weight, pegged. No snags.

Light to medium heavy cover, or thicker branches of cover? A big ol jig.

Jigs tend to hang up quite a bit more with the semi exposed hook. The smaller the tree limbs and stuff, the worse it gets for me. The pegged flipping hook has no exposed point so it tends to get in and out easier.

If the cover isn't too bad, as in not a bunch of thick matted stuff, I'll go down in weight.

I have equal success with a bug bait vs a jig. Just different approach to the same type of bait. Plus for a jig is trailers last longer than creature baits, and jig heads last longer too. More fish per jig and trailer vs maybe two fish, if I'm lucky, on a bug.

I tend to catch bigger avg size on jig, but I have a hard time convincing myself I could not have caught the same fish on trig. A jig may only get 1 bite on many NTex lakes. Hard to gain confidence in it like that. Trig gets more bites for me

I usually try both to see which gets the bites. Let the fish tell you what they want. I love jig fishing, but won't use it if they aren't eating it

Jig or Tx.rigged craw tube. They both work very well for pitching to heavy cover. I fish a Tx.rigged worm type bait in more open water.
