I just finished getting my 12ft v-hull boat ready for the water. Shopping for a trolling motor setup. Spoke to a sales floor guy at Cabelas about it. He recommended the Minn Kota Endura Max 55lb thrust (mine will be transom mount, used as the only motor on my boat). Can you guys tell me your opinion? I'm not looking for a trolling motor that will get me to fly across the lake like a speed boat. I've got realistic expectations. But I weigh 225lbs. Would have fishing gear in my boat. Would also enjoy puttering around with one or both of my young daughters (2 & 4yr old) from time to time. Potentially have another adult in the boat for fishing from time to time. Just want to make sure the 55lb thrust will be enough. Your thoughts?

55 lb thrust pushed my 15' fiberglass bass boat, fully loaded with 2 people about 1.2 mph. With the digital motor and a large battery, I never ran out of juice but I did have an outboard to drive around with. Had plenty of power in the wind also. You should be fine but I'd consider a backup battery just in case

Thanks Bobby! I appreciate the input. Anyone else? I was hoping to get a handful of opinions...
